EMILIO SAHURIE
Specializes in Insurance and Reinsurance, Maritime Law, Aviation (liabilities), Arbitration and Litigation.
He studied Law at the Catholic University of Valparaíso. Thereafter he obtained a LL.M. and JSD degrees Yale Law School, and was awarded the Ambrose Gherini Prize for writing the best paper on a subject of public and private law. He holds a Graduate Certificate on International Commercial Arbitration from the University of Chile, and a Post-Graduate Certificate on Mediation from the Catholic University of Chile.
He has lectured in commercial and international law at the University of Chile, the Catholic University of Valparaiso and the Catholic University of Chile. He has also participated as a speaker at many conferences, and has published numerous articles in matters of his areas of expertise.
He was President of the International Association of Insurance Law (AIDA-Chile) between 2007 and 2009. He is a member of the Chilean Bar Association, of AIDA – Chile, and the Chilean Association of Maritime Law. Was part of the panel of Arbitrators of the Arbitration and Mediation Centers of the Santiago Chamber of Commerce, and the Valparaiso Chamber of Commerce. Until April 2011 he was a member of the China Maritime Arbitration Commission.
Member of the Arbitration Commission for disputes relating Public Works concessions.
He has been acknowledged by Chambers & Partners as an outstanding insurance attorney.
